Morgan Stanley Software Engineer interview: difficult introductory questions

Morgan Stanley·Software Engineer·Reported Jun 2026
Hard

My first introductory round was rough from the beginning. The questions felt difficult right away. What unsettled me was the interviewers' response: my answers did not satisfy them, and it seemed as though they wanted very specific responses instead of exploring my reasoning or allowing the discussion to develop.

I could not make sense of the intent. The questioning felt as if it was constructing something unnecessarily complicated, and I was not sure whether I had misunderstood what they wanted or whether the bar simply required their exact preferred answer.

I did not receive an offer. Overall, the process felt out of sync with how I interpreted the prompts while trying to solve them.

Location: India. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
