Reddit Android Engineer Interview Experience — Project Discussion and Comment Filtering

My Android screen began with roughly fifteen to twenty minutes on a project I had worked on, including follow-up questions. The interviewer also asked about coroutines and suspend. Coding started with about twenty-five minutes remaining.

The problem involved hiding comments of an unwanted category along with their descendants and returning the excluded IDs. I initially misunderstood the category condition and corrected it after the interviewer explained it. I worried that this mistake might count against me. A follow-up allowed sufficiently high-scoring comments to remain visible; I outlined an approach before time ran out.

Overall, I found the interviewer friendly and helpful at important points, and the discussion felt interactive.
