I got a reach-out email from their recruiter and we scheduled a 30-minute quick chat.
The HR person was 5 minutes late, but it was no big deal, I've seen this a lot. After she joined she said she wouldn't turn her camera on, and told me I didn't have to either. Then we got started.
Intro and work experience
She first asked me to introduce myself, and I went over my work history. Then she asked me to focus on my current work: what my team does and what I specifically do. After that came a few standard behavioral questions (BQ): what was a recent challenge you ran into at work, and how did you solve it.
I don't remember whether there were other questions, but that was basically it. She didn't ask things like why I want to leave my current job or why I want to join them.
End of the interview and what happened next
At the end she let me ask questions. I asked about the salary range for the role, and had her tell me more about the company.
The next day I got a rejection email straight away. I don't know where it went wrong. I also saw a post on Blind before from someone who asked about work-life balance at the end of the interview and got rejected too, so it's kind of baffling.
Edit: I just remembered there was one more BQ: how do you use AI in your day-to-day work.
