A recruiter reached out, and I decided to interview because the role matched my background. In the phone screen, I used AI for a card-ranking exercise, explained the approach and generated code, and added unit tests. I passed that round.
The virtual onsite included adding scheduled changes to an existing employee-management application using HackerRank's integrated assistant. The system-design round concerned aggregating user behavior and metrics. I had expected a product-oriented role and had not prepared that infrastructure-style topic well.
For the manager round, I prepared slides on a past project and answered behavioral questions. I felt the manager was disengaged and not very interested in my experience. A rejection arrived the next day.
