A bit about me: I have 6+ years of experience, and I got laid off from my previous company in February 2026.
Right after that I started brushing up on DSA and system design. After roughly 3-4 weeks of studying I felt ready to begin interviewing.
In March I reached out to a Salesforce recruiter directly, since a friend of mine had passed along the contact.
Here is how the process went.
Online assessment: two standard DSA problems, 90 minutes, on hackerrank. I solved both fully. The recruiter had told me up front that I needed at least 80% to move on.
Afterwards the recruiter called to say I had cleared the OA and that the remaining rounds would all happen within the next week. Every round was an elimination round. The first one would be online, and if I passed it, the other rounds would all be held on one day at the Salesforce office.
R1 (90 minutes, online) was DSA plus LLD. The DSA part was Generate Parentheses. For the LLD part I had to design BookMyShow, with the emphasis on class design, design principles and how to prevent double booking.
R2 (60 minutes, onsite) was DSA again, with two standard LeetCode mediums. The first was a graph problem wrapped in a little story, but underneath it was a BFS traversal with a few extra conditions. The second was a variation of Longest Palindromic Substring. Both had to be fully solved, running on hackerrank and passing every test case.
R3 (90 minutes, onsite) was LLD plus HLD, and the task was to design Uber. They wanted me to concentrate on ride matching, surge pricing and the flow of a driver accepting a ride. At the very end the interviewer also had me walk through the architecture of a project at my current company.
R4 (60 minutes, onsite) was the hiring manager round. It was the usual leadership principle questions, a discussion of my current project, why I wanted Salesforce, and how I keep up with what is happening in AI.
When R4 was over they simply asked us to leave the building. Two days later HR emailed to say I had been selected. A salary discussion followed, and within another 2 days I was holding the offer letter for SMTS.
Honestly, I feel lucky to have landed such a good offer within 2 months of the layoff. God bless everyone.
