Let me start with the outcome: I interviewed at SoFi in June, and everything from the phone screen to the onsite moved very fast. In the end the recruiter even said it was positive — and then they started stringing me along.
The onsite had 3 rounds:
- React: write a standard CRUD table
- System Design: design a suggestion system
The HM round covered my past experience, debugging, and a random API design question. During the interview the HM even said they'd push to level me up to the next level.
After the onsite, offers from other companies started coming in, and I told the recruiter. The recruiter went and checked, said feedback was very good, and asked me to hold off on my other offer, saying the team was going through process and had a lot of headcount. What followed was full stringing-along mode: dragged from today to tomorrow, tomorrow to the day after, until my other offer couldn't wait any longer and they asked me to stall for one more weekend.
If you run into this company and the HM came from Amazon, avoid it entirely. HR kept saying they were going through approval, telling me to keep delaying and not accept the other offer, and even knowing my other offer was about to expire, they kept proactively emailing me with misleading updates. Good thing I never declined the other offer.
My advice: move on to other companies. Don't waste your time with this one, especially with this kind of HM and HR.
