Super Micro Computer Software Engineer interview: streaming design and manager rounds

The process was simple in structure but hard in content. After initial setup, I had three rounds: a system-design interview followed by two managerial rounds.

For system design, I was asked to design a streaming application like a major video platform. I had to explain how the system would work at scale and discuss architectural trade-offs. The later managerial discussions focused on how I work and make decisions, but I did not clear enough of them.

I came away feeling that the role wanted very specific experience and judgment, not only a solid high-level design conversation. I cleared one round and was not selected. It made the feedback feel less about communication quality and more about the depth they were seeking.

Location: Bangalore Rural. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
