Supermicro Software Engineer interview: brain-teaser screening

Supermicro·Software Engineer·Reported Jun 2026
Online AssessmentHard

The process began with online assessments that did not feel related to the role. The recruitment quizzes leaned on strange puzzle-like brain teasers, and I felt they wasted my time because I was not being hired to solve riddles.

After the assessment, the follow-through varied. In one thread, I had a couple of interviews: one structured round and one more conversational interview with normal questions. In other cases, the process skipped an HR phone screen and went straight from the assessment to later stages. In one thread, I solved two DSA questions and then waited months without any update.

The difficulty was hard to pin down because the early assessments felt disconnected and communication varied so much afterward. I did not get to an offer. What stayed with me was the mismatch between the work I expected for a Software Engineer role and the way the early screen tested me.

Location: Mountain View, CA. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: no offer.
