After a smooth recruiter interaction, I went directly to a virtual one-on-one technical interview with someone from the hiring team. It was focused: a medium SQL question tested whether I could read and reason through the query, along with general data-science and machine-learning questions. The SQL was not intended as a trick question, but they wanted to see whether I understood what the code was doing.
Recruiting did not drag on, and the technical screen moved at a normal pace. The interviewer dug deeply into my background with many follow-ups instead of letting me give a simple summary. I was also asked what I would do if I had a second chance and how I would improve work I had already done.
It felt more like a test of clarity and ownership of my experience than a test of tricks, and it moved me to the next step instead of ending my process there.
