Uber Data Scientist Interview Experience — Phone Screen Pairs a Quick Coding Question with a Full A/B Testing Case Study

Before the interview, Uber's recruiter sends over some documents to help you prepare — a rough outline of the interview process, what knowledge you should study, and a bunch of links to help you get familiar with Uber's products.

The first round is a one-hour phone screen. It starts with talking about the team and about yourself, then a 20-minute easy-difficulty coding question, then a case study, and finally five minutes for Q&A.

The case study was about A/B testing (once the interviewer gives you the background, you're supposed to recognize that this is testing your A/B testing knowledge) — what data to collect, how large the sample size should be, how long you need to collect data for, what the null and alternative hypotheses are, what the test statistic looks like, and what a p-value is. These all seem to be basic A/B testing questions.

Uber's website has a lot of pages about their products and the algorithms behind them. Here's one I found useful.
