Zipline Software Engineer onsite cut short by a video setup

My early screens went well, including an initial check with the hiring manager and a coding portion. I was then invited onsite for the final rounds, and that's when the process started to feel badly mismanaged.

When I arrived, the interviewers were working from home, so I had to join by video while sitting in a congested, makeshift phone setup. That made the whole experience feel pointless. During the onsite, the manager explained that there was some kind of fire they had to deal with, so the remaining interviews moved to Zoom. The onsite was cut short, and shortly afterward I received a random rejection email.

I also never heard back about travel expense reimbursement. The whole process felt unprofessional from start to finish. I left feeling that it hadn't respected the effort it took to get there, and I definitely didn't feel good about the outcome.

Location: United States. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
