Zipline Interview Questions
Zipline is the rare loop on this site where the onsite carries more questions than the phone screen: 3 of the 5 reports here come from onsite rounds, all from Software Engineer candidates, all rated medium. Two are recognisable data-structure exercises, a stack that reports its running maximum in constant time and the largest area formed by adjacent bars, which is the monotonic stack problem wearing a different label; both open in a runnable console. The other three are shaped by what the company flies. One asks you to design a checkers simulator: board state, legal moves, forced captures, promotion to king. One asks you to optimise the mapping components of an autonomy stack, where the binding constraint is the compute budget on the vehicle rather than raw throughput on a server. The last asks for a redundant railroad crossing, a safety-critical design question in costume, concerned with what fails, how you detect it, and what the system does when the detector itself is lying. A written solution accompanies three of them, and none of the five sit behind the paywall.
