Introduction to Distributed Logging

Logging in a distributed system

When one request crosses several services, its diagnostic records are spread across their instances. A downstream failure may produce several upstream errors, so the first error an operator sees need not identify the original fault. Centralized search and propagated trace context help connect these records. The following sequence illustrates a dependency failure spreading through a service graph.
