Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer interview: design then manager rounds

Amazon Development Center U.S.·Software Engineer·Reported Jul 2026

I went through three rounds that moved from technical work to more managerial conversations. The first was system design: I was asked to design a streaming application like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. I focused on structuring the design and its trade-offs, and that was the only technical round I cleared.

The remaining rounds were managerial. They focused on how I work, how I think about delivery, and how I handle collaboration and ownership.

I did not receive an offer after the three rounds. The shift from system design to managerial discussion was especially noticeable, because I felt the criteria widened beyond the architecture I had been able to communicate.

Location: Bangalore Rural. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
