Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer Interview Experience: leadership-focused virtual ladder

Amazon Development Center U.S.·Software Engineer·Reported Aug 2026

I went through an extended interview path that felt like climbing an organizational ladder. After the initial recruiter screening, I had virtual rounds with senior engineering leaders: an engineering director, a senior product owner, and a senior software engineer.

Amazon's Leadership Principles were a major part of the loop. The Bar Raiser was a distinct stage, and I could not treat the behavioral work as something to wing. Across coding and experience-focused conversations, I had to explain both how I solved problems and how I made decisions in past projects.

Scheduling and communication felt professional, and the structure was deliberate. I did not receive an offer. What stayed with me was the number of people I spoke with and the different angle each one took on my technical depth and communication.

Location: Redmond, WA. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
