I received an outreach email from a recruiter in August.
I originally thought we would just chat briefly and then move forward to schedule the later interviews, but we ended up talking for about half an hour.
The recruiter asked quite a few questions, including: "Why Anthropic?" "How does your previous experience relate to AI safety?" "Why do you think you are a fit for this position?" "How large a team do you lead, how many direct reports do you have, how is your normal work divided, and do you still write code?" The position was an individual-contributor role, so the recruiter also asked whether I was comfortable with that.
I described my work experience and explained why I think AI safety is important. I agree with Anthropic's values around AI safety, and I hope my experience can be applied in the AI safety field.
After listening, the recruiter said that sounded good and explained that there would be four later interviews. The first would be a system design phone screen. If I passed, there would be three more: a Hiring Manager conversation about Experience and Goals, including project experience and behavioral questions; a Tech Presentation about a recent project; and a culture-fit chat.
It took another day after our conversation for the scheduling link to arrive. I hope the later interviews go smoothly.
