I had two coding interviews with an Apple Service Engineering team, on September 4 and September 14.
The first asked for the total number of nodes in a network using messages between left and right neighbors and boundary checks. I proposed sending initialization information inward from the boundaries, then caching the total at each node so later queries could be answered locally.
The second involved a random diagonal walk in an eight-by-eight-by-eight grid. I described tracking the probability at each position after each step and updating valid positions for the eight possible moves. The account focused on these coding tasks and approaches; I did not report an outcome.
