ASML Software Engineer interview: disengaged manager call

ASML·Software Engineer·Reported Jul 2026

After waiting a while after applying, with the first interview in May and then a long silence, I eventually had another virtual interview with the hiring manager. It was scheduled for 45 minutes but did not feel balanced. The manager asked one question early, then spent most of the call talking about himself and the role.

When I spoke, he appeared to be looking at another screen and typing. That made the conversation feel distant, and I could not tell what my answers were contributing to the decision.

The company itself did not seem unappealing and still looked like it could be a good place to work. But I came away feeling that not every manager conversation adds value, and the extended timeline made the disconnect worse.

Location: United States. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
