Cadence Design Systems Software Engineer Interview Experience: Memory management and C++ rounds

Cadence Design Systems·Software Engineer·Reported Aug 2026

I started with a recruiter-style resume discussion and then moved quickly into several technical rounds. The first technical round went deep on memory management and pointer reasoning, with stack and queue problems about how data moves and is processed. The focus was on understanding mechanics, not only producing a final answer.

The next technical round was more algorithmic and coding heavy. It included rotate image, merge intervals, jump game, and graph or tree traversal questions. The interviews were challenging but not impossible.

A hiring-manager round returned to C++ and the standard library, including vector questions. I didn't get an offer, but I left with a clear sense that they were testing low-level thinking and everyday coding fluency.

Location: Noida. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
