The interviewer expected me to follow a provided description word for word to match the "spec," but that expectation hadn't been explained clearly at the beginning. I tried to ask clarifying questions and interpret the requirements in good faith. The mismatch made the session frustrating and more complicated than it needed to be.
I ultimately didn't get an offer. Although the overall structure was familiar, with DSA rounds and a system-style discussion touched on during the behavioral stage, the unclear, spec-driven dynamic made me feel as if the interview was testing my patience more than my ability to reason.
