I couldn't find a single interview review for the analytics engineering role on the forum, so I'm contributing one.
Tech round: one LC medium question, not sure if it's an original/repeat question, pretty simple but exhausting — window sum, find the max sum. I'd seen it before in DoorDash's DE interview reviews. Then four SQL questions — he said getting three done was actually fine. I wrote the fourth one but had an error in it; he said it was fine, no one gets that far, and gave me the answer and had me explain it. That one was also a repeat from DoorDash's DE/DS interview reviews.
The virtual onsite (VO) was pretty easy, mostly just talking.
DS business partner round: suppose you're working in the customer support team and you have all the data — how would you allocate salary to each (human) support agent based on the complaint tickets they've resolved? There was also a question about how you'd diagnose a metrics drop — I forget the details, but it was simple — and one more small case question I also forget. None of them were hard, I just got a bit stuck on the salary allocation one.
BQ round: the interviewer kept wiping their glasses, yawning, and checking their phone... Talk through a project — conflict, ambiguity, having a different opinion from your manager — plus a follow-up case question: there are a lot of complaints because the restaurant made the wrong food / the courier picked up the wrong order / the courier delivered to the wrong place — what would you do to prevent that?
Data modeling round: a repeat question from the DE interview reviews — design a fitness app, define DAU, given a schema write a DAU query, plus some other SQL questions. Pretty simple, a window function is all you need.
ETL round: just talking through a project where you built an ETL pipeline. They asked about it in a lot of detail — 40 minutes on that alone.
I think it was the DS round's salary allocation question that I only half-answered — I paused a bunch of times. Not sure why, but I got rejected.
