DoorDash Data Scientist interview: SQL round and case study before a quick rejection

The loop felt almost entirely about training the interviewers. There was no separate recruiter screening call. It began with a SQL round, then a case study. The recruiter mostly gave a brief introduction, while the two technical sessions carried the process.

I finished the SQL questions and explained my thinking to the recruiter as things moved along. The case study also went well, and it felt like I was doing the kind of work the role would actually require. What threw me off was the timing: I was rejected within a few hours of the interview even though I thought I had performed solidly.

The questions were easy to moderate for me. The disappointment was that this did not seem to matter much. I left feeling the interview had been run more for an internal process than for making a real decision.

Location: Chicago, IL. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
