Overall the experience was really good.
The recruiter was very warm. The behavioral interview asked about the project I'm proudest of, how I deal with diversity, and a hypothetical: how would I spark my coworkers' creativity. If a question is hypothetical, the interviewer says up front that it's hypothetical.
The coding interviewer almost stood me up twice. Luckily the second time the recruiter nudged him, and he showed up a dozen or so minutes late, but we still used the full 45 minutes. The problem: out of k movies, n are similar movies, and every movie has a rating. Find the highest-rated movie among the similar ones.
I started with DFS. Then he asked if I could optimize it, and I used a min heap. He kept asking, and by then I was already under too much pressure. He asked how I would do it with DP, and I said union find and wrote out rough pseudocode. Then time was up and that was it.
I don't know when the result will come.
The timeline before this: I applied at the end of August, got the hiring assessment in mid-September, and was told I passed the moment I finished it. A day or two later they scheduled round 1 and told me it would be a behavioral round plus a coding round. I asked for more time to prepare, so it was set for October 21st, but I got stood up, and it was rescheduled to today.
Update: I posted this right after the interview, and the very next day I got an email saying I passed. A new recruiter is taking over and says she still needs to schedule a phone call with me. My English is plastic and I'm a bit scared of that call.
