Micro1 Software Engineer interview: AI coding session with escalating follow-ups

My AI interview felt like a stressful, high-focus testing session. The system asked questions tied to a specific language area before moving into a coding exercise. The whole environment was recorded, including my webcam, microphone, and screen, so I felt like everything was being scrutinized.

The questions began at a high level, focusing more on architecture and performance design than on writing code line by line. After I gave an initial design answer, the AI followed up with several increasingly difficult questions about the same problem. I had to keep one continuous thread in my responses.

The structure was intense and felt a bit unfairly punishing because the difficulty increased so quickly. I didn't get an offer. I felt I could handle the topic area, but the escalating follow-ups made the interview feel less like an assessment and more like an endurance test under a rigid recording setup.

Location: United Kingdom. Overall feedback: Neutral. Offer status: No offer.
