I interviewed last Friday. There were four rounds, and in the first three the interviewers were all senior SDEs, with one system design question per round:
- A task scheduler
- Implement a version-controlled download service. For example, if you want to download python2.7 and you find that your machine is missing a few of its dependency packages, you have to download those as well. I thought about this round afterwards and I feel the part about checking dependency versions was not explained clearly. Sigh.
- A KV store
The fourth round was with a director, and I felt the questions he asked were really strange. He asked about the difference between Java and Python, what is good and what is bad about each, and then about the impact of AI on coding, whether we should trust AI or not trust it, plus a few other pretty open-ended questions. Each topic got about 10 minutes, and then he left 15 minutes for me to ask questions back. I feel like he barely asked any behavioral questions, and for the project deep dive I only got to say a tiny bit before he moved on to another topic.
Sigh, I have honestly been pretty anxious lately. It has been a day since the interview and my inbox is completely quiet.
