Remitly Software Engineer online technical screening

After a recruiter call, I had an online technical screening split between getting to know me and solving a problem. It wasn’t a simple "here’s the pattern" LeetCode exercise, and it didn’t feel realistic to finish in a tight window without running into gaps. I spent a lot of time making sure I understood what was being asked and what passing behavior should look like.

The coding round wasn’t just an answer check. I had to implement against the tests and make choices that would actually satisfy them. As time ran down, I tried to stay methodical: confirm the requirements, then build toward a solution instead of rushing for a quick pass.

The rest of the loop kept the same balance between a technical portion and a heavier introductory and behavioral component. The interviewers asked follow-up questions when I made assumptions. It ended without an offer for me, but the structure was clear enough that I didn’t feel I was being set up to fail randomly.

Location: Canada. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
