Rockstar Software Engineer interview: community scenarios and an eleven-week process

After speaking with a recruiter, I moved into interviews focused on the community side of the role. The first deeper conversation was with the Community team. We discussed community management and creator relations, including what I'd do when situations didn't go as expected and how I'd maintain relationships with creators and the wider audience.

Next, I completed a timed written assessment on CoderPad. I responded to community-management scenarios and wrote creator and community content for FiveM and RedM. I was surprised by how much depended on tone and judgment. The final interview was a conversation with senior Community Operations staff about my experience, collaboration, problem solving and interest in gaming communities.

Everyone was friendly and professional, and I felt welcome. The difficult part was the timeline, about 11 weeks. They said I'd hear the following week, but after two weeks without an update I had to follow up myself. The result was a rejection. I still thought the interviews were strong, even though the timing and communication had let them down.

Location: London, England. Overall feedback: neutral. Offer status: no offer.
