I started with an online assessment on HackerRank, which immediately set the tone. It leaned heavily on data structures and algorithms in C, with many code-tracing prompts where I had to predict how snippets would behave and whether they would compile. There were also multiple-choice questions on embedded systems and communication protocols, especially UART, SPI, and I2C.
After the assessment, I had an HR interview followed by a technical interview. The difficulty felt high and centered on fundamentals, both practical code reading and the conceptual side of embedded communication. I came away feeling that they were looking for someone who could reason through C code and understand common buses and protocols, not just memorize definitions.
