I went through a longer process that was mostly standard in structure even as it dragged on. After a recruiter touchpoint, there were about five rounds: a coding-pad-style test, a hiring-manager conversation, technical interviews, and a system-design round. It seemed to be progressing in a controlled way, and I was told I had cleared every stage and could advance my candidacy.
Then the momentum stopped. Although I had been told everything was approved to continue, I later learned hiring was paused. The process ultimately went nowhere. It felt as though I had invested a lot of time only for the decision to change on the business side rather than because of my performance.
The surprise was not the technical load. It was how quickly the final step became impossible after I had been told everything was cleared.
