Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer Interview Experience: Queue with two stacks

After applying, I completed an online assessment with two algorithm-focused problems. One was a sliding-window task and the other involved binary search. It felt less like vague theory and more like recognizing the right pattern and implementing it within the time limit. After passing, I moved to coding-first stages. In one round, I implemented a queue using two stacks, working through the mechan…

Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer interview experience

Recruiter outreach turned into a marathon. After the initial steps, I was scheduled for an onsite-style block of back-to-back interviews. I did four rounds in one day with senior engineers, followed by additional conversations about leadership and design. The day opened with coding and problem solving. For DSA questions, the interviewer cared about how I explained edge cases aloud. In one interva…

Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer Interview Experience: coding, design, and Leadership Principles

This Amazon process felt like a full technical deep dive rather than a quick screen. After applying, I had multiple live rounds combining coding, system design, and detailed behavioral questions about Leadership Principles. The coding work required more than an optimal LeetCode style solution. I had to explain my thought process, edge cases, time and space complexity, alternative approaches, and…

Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer Java Spring Boot debugging loop

After a recruiter call, I had a technical phone screen of about an hour with practical engineering questions. Once I cleared it, I entered the loop. The loop combined coding, systems thinking, and Amazon Leadership Principles. I solved LeetCode-style problems, discussed system design, and completed a STAR-format behavioral round. In one round, I used an AI-enabled setup to debug code in a Java/Sp…

Amazon Development Center U.S. Software Engineer four-round coding and leadership loop

After an online assessment, I entered a deliberate loop meant to assess both coding and engineering judgment, with leadership principles throughout. The loop had four rounds: two coding interviews, a behavioral conversation built around Amazon Leadership Principles, and a hiring-manager round with another coding problem plus a high-level design discussion. One coding round started with a medium p…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
