A Disorganized Onsite Hiring Event

Actually, this is just me venting... First, the onsite is called a "hiring event," and there were about a dozen people there. After checking in, we even had to walk back to the car to put up the parking permit — pretty chaotic. The hiring manager for the BQ round was 15 minutes late! If they hadn't shown up soon, I was ready to pack up and leave. The conversation itself was pretty mediocre — not…

A Hard Interval Problem I Blanked On in the Phone Screen

The interview had two interviewers who came on together. They said they were hiring for different teams, so both of them figured they'd sit in and take a look. The original problem turned out to be an exact match for one I recognized by name, word for word — but I had actually never gone through and solved it myself before. My approach wasn't too far off: try to store the interval information, th…

Walmart Labs Software Engineer interview: a short virtual coding round

I applied online and received an email invitation to a virtual interview. During the call, I worked through an easy LeetCode problem that felt similar to 2-sum or a basic array question. I explained the solution during the interview and never heard back afterward. The process was short and uncomplicated, but without a follow-up it felt anticlimactic. There was no clear conclusion to the experienc…

Walmart Labs Account Executive interview: next-day call

After applying, I met in person with two people at the store, a sales manager and a lead cashier. It was a quick, low-stress conversation about ordinary role fit. They asked the usual questions about me, why I wanted to work there, when I could start, my availability, and whether I could handle the schedule. I also had time to ask questions. It felt more like checking whether I would be comfortab…

Walmart Labs Software Engineer interview: compact technical rounds and backend stack discussion

After recruiter-style contact, I entered a compact technical process that felt straightforward and clearly structured. The setup was about 30 minutes for a sequence of technical rounds, with a LeetCode-style problem as the main expectation. Between questions, I was also asked about my work history, resume, and how it mapped to my tech stack, including Kafka, Kubernetes, and Java Spring Boot. The…

Five Rounds, SQL Live Coding to a Senior Director Case Study

This write-up was drafted with ChatGPT's help based on the reflection notes I wrote after each round, so some of the phrasing may sound a bit AI-generated — I hope that's okay, the content matches what I want to convey. I've noticed there are a lot of DS interview write-ups here but not many DA ones, so hopefully this helps people looking for DA roles. I recently got an offer for a Walmart Princi…

System Design, Behavioral, and a Two Sum Variant Onsite

This was a Walmart hiring event. I had passed the phone interview before, and then this physical onsite had three rounds. First round: system design, Ticket Master, done on a whiteboard. The interviewer was friendly and reminded me that I might not be following the process in the right order. You need to write the functional requirements, the non-functional requirements, then the model, the API,…

Two Behavioral Rounds and a Messy Hiring Process

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well this winter. This is my second post — sharing my interview experience for the Walmart PM Intern position. It seems like there aren't many PM intern write-ups on the forum, let alone for Walmart, so I hope this helps. Interview Experience Timeline: I submitted my resume in mid-October -> got the OA right after submitting -> was notified in late October to schedu…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
