SQL and A/B Testing Screen, No Offer

There were 2 SQL questions — one to calculate a total and one to calculate a percentage. Neither question was hard, but given how demanding Meta interviews are, you need to think through a lot of edge cases, or you might be done for. The case study covered A/B testing and stats estimation. Also not hard, but you had to grasp the key points accurately and quickly. For A/B testing they wanted to te…

Two Case-Study Rounds, No Coding, Rejected After 3 Days

Round 1: Measurement & Modeling Concepts A case study: Google Meet has a big customer who complains that meetings keep dropping/disconnecting. They ask how you'd analyze and solve this problem, how you'd put together an analysis plan, and how you'd estimate the impact. If it's affecting retention, how do you build a model to predict retention (contract renewal)? How do you evaluate models, what a…

A Monetization Case Built Around a Messenger P2P Payments Feature

This was for the Data Science, Analytics (PhD) summer intern position. The interviewer's background was in monetization. His questions followed pretty much the standard pattern you see on the forum — business goal / metric / experiment — and then he dug into specific points based on what I said. Roughly, he asked: Do you think it would be worth adding a Venmo-like peer-to-peer money transfer feat…

the Groupon Coupon Mini-Case

Just finished the mini case this morning, and by the afternoon I already had the pass notification along with a scheduled power day for next week — I have to say the recruiter I got this time was way better than the last one. While it's still fresh, let me report back to everyone. Hoping next week's power day goes smoothly. At the start, the interviewer briefly introduced his background, had me i…

A Surprise Three-Manager Round With a Live Excel Test

Originally I planned to share this once I had the result — as either a success story or a rejection story. But now that the final round has wrapped and I'm sitting in that anxious waiting period for the decision, this might actually be a more relatable post to write. I really want to share a lot of the internal info I picked up during this application process, since it gives people a rare inside…

Two Attempts, a Cancelled Headcount, and an Energy Case Interview

My Capital One interview process has been quite a rollercoaster so far — over the past month or so I've interviewed twice. Timeline The first time was through a referral from a friend, for a newly posted analytics role: 1/16: HR Call scheduled 1/24: HR Call rescheduled to 1/31 — the reason was that when the original interview time came, I sat on my phone waiting for over half an hour, then HR fin…

Four Onsite Rounds, Treated as Practice

Overall the interview went fairly smoothly. Four rounds total. The first round on stats was a bit shaky — if I were going to fail, that's where it'd happen. But it doesn't really matter much, I'd already accepted an offer from a good company elsewhere, so this one was purely for the experience. Round 1 - Stats: They asked a few BQ questions, had me do a self-introduction, then gave an ML case — h…

Case Study, SQL, and a Live Python EDA Round

Part 1: case study plus SQL and Python. The case: an e-commerce company wants to send personalized emails to boost conversion rate. How do you measure success? It was basically the standard A/B test process — define the metrics, figure out how to calculate the sample size, all of that. There was a follow-up at the end: suppose we ran the experiment and saw conversion rate go up 20%, we thought it…

New Case and SQL Questions on the Phone Screen

DoorDash Data Scientist phone screen — I got new questions on both the case study and the SQL sections. The case study asked what the impact would be if a delivery is late, and what the possible reasons are. Then, based on the reasons I gave, the interviewer asked what data we would look at, and how to decide which of my stated reasons was the most important one. They also brought up that we've n…

Onsite Loop with a SQL Live-Coding Slip

AR (Circle): A lot of the questions had already shown up in earlier interview reports, but the interviewer followed up heavily based on how I answered, and I'm honestly not sure whether I actually landed on what she was looking for. AE (Ads in Feed): Most of it was also questions from prior interview reports. The interviewer had a fairly strong accent and her questions weren't always clear, so it…

Gamified Assessment and a Meta-Style Product Sense Case, No Offer

This application season I applied for Roblox's PhD DS Summer Intern position. I didn't end up passing, but I felt the team's overall background was pretty solid, and the assessment was a bit different from the usual, so I wanted to share it here. Timeline: 11/23/2024 — applied online, got the assessment the same day 12/19/2024 — submitted the assessment 02/12/2025 — HR reached out 02/27/2025 — vi…

Recruiter Flagged a Red Flag on My SQL Metric

AE: The euro-chat question — there's a chatbot used for B2C customer service, and the question was how you'd define success, testing, etc. Behavioral: Standard questions. SQL: The shop visibility question. Overall pretty standard questions, and the last part asked me to define my own metric to prove whether new shops are more active. Afterward the recruiter's feedback said I had a red flag on thi…

SQL Screen With Doubled Difficulty and Tight Time

Part 1 was product, and since I was well prepared it felt fine. Prepare a lot more for high-frequency Biker and Cold Food. Read the attached switchback experiment design, randomization, and analysis parts carefully. SQL was not the usual four questions (someone on the forum summarized them before, but the answers weren't quite right, so correct them yourself). I got new questions, and the difficu…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
