Nuro Interview Questions
Nuro's reported loop runs to 20 questions, 13 in the Software Engineer track and the rest spread across backend, machine learning and data engineering roles. Coding dominates: 11 of the 20 are algorithm problems, and they cluster around two shapes. The first is interval arithmetic, computing total unique duration by merging overlapping ranges, or walking two interval lists to find where they intersect. The second is concurrency, building a recurring job scheduler that stays thread-safe while timers fire and jobs overlap. Geometry turns up as well, including clustering 3D points under a distance threshold, which sits close to the perception work the company actually does. Design prompts are fewer and stay concrete, such as a webhook delivery and metric aggregation service. Most of this happens early: 15 of the 20 landed in a technical screen rather than onsite, so the bar is set before you ever reach a full loop. Six are rated hard, a heavier share than most banks this size carry, and 11 come with a console attached, so you can run an implementation against the test cases before reading anyone else's.
