My interview leaned heavily on core fundamentals, and it felt manageable once I settled in. Most questions were about Java and backend concepts: OOP, threading, executor services, how volatile affects concurrency, race conditions, and deadlocks. They also covered Spring Boot ideas such as controller versus REST controller, the N+1 query problem, and one stream-related question.
Much of the conversation was theory based rather than code first. I tied my answers back to my projects and technologies I had used, and they asked how I built and debugged in that context. Even a shorter, mostly resume-driven session stayed on DBMS and architecture topics such as N-tier design and middleware, with some business-logic discussion.
It did not feel impossible, and the tone was generally chill or at least not high pressure. I was not selected. I left feeling that the outcome might have been different if I had matched their expected depth on the fundamentals.
