Alten Software Engineer Interview Experience: technical assignments and poor coordination before Carrefour

Alten contacted me on LinkedIn even though I hadn't applied. The recruiter described the process as more of a one-time assessment and said they'd keep my profile for future opportunities even if I chose not to continue. The selection process ended up taking much longer than that explanation suggested.

I had a brief HR screen, then an interview with a backend technical lead. That went well, and I received a backend assignment with a five-day deadline. After completing it, I met the lead again to explain my implementation and technical decisions. The discussion was professional, and that stage felt positive.

Things became disorganized afterward. Two HR representatives seemed to have conflicting information about my application status. After I raised the problem, I had a React-focused frontend interview. That also went well and didn't require another assignment.

I was then told I'd interview with Carrefour. Before that, I had a preparation call with an Alten commercial representative who joined late and kept sending me messages during the conversation. It was hard to prepare properly. The client interview was the most concerning part of the process. I didn't receive an offer, and I was left feeling that the long, poorly coordinated process had worked against me more than my preparation had.

Location: Rabat. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
