CATERPILLAR Software Engineer interview: French STAR response

After a recruiter step, I had a panel interview with three developers. The atmosphere was friendly, and they were helpful when I got stuck. The format relied heavily on STAR-style behavioral questions, including one that I had to answer in French. There were also a couple of technical questions and questions about my resume and situations from past roles.

The technical side was not extreme, but the behavioral part became stricter. I had five STAR-type questions, and at least one interviewer said I had not answered in the exact format they expected. Some scenarios also did not seem to fit the experience I had described, which made the exchange less smooth than I hoped.

I left feeling prepared, but the scoring seemed subjective, more about matching their preferred structure than the story itself.

Location: Laval, QC. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: got offer.
