Circle Internet Financial Software Engineer: pairing directions wasted time

I went through a recruiter and assessment process followed by design, coding, pairing, and behavioral interviews. In the pair-programming portion, I felt the interviewer gave partially incorrect directions, which wasted a large part of the time.

After CodeSignal, I had a behavioral and fit round. We discussed what interested me in Circle, my projects, and how I acted under pressure rather than technical questions.

Another process included a general system-design round, a pair-programming task in which I built a web API, and a behavioral interview.

In one recruiter call, the tone changed after I couldn't say that Circle was my single top choice. After that, I was effectively ghosted. In another case, things seemed to be going well until the recruiter stopped responding, and I later received a template rejection.

My recruiter interview was also canceled with very short notice. I received no offer. The experience showed me how much communication and the way rounds are run can affect the process, even when I've prepared.

Location: United States. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
