After I spoke with the recruiter, I received a fairly long online assessment. It had multiple-choice questions about the language used for the role, which in this case was Python, along with syntax questions. It also had two longer CoderPad questions. The first involved data manipulation. The second was a very long debugging problem with multiple steps. Retakes were allowed, so I could contact the recruiter and ask to take it again. Unlike Airbnb's assessment, this one did not require the camera to be on.
The hiring manager screen was quite in-depth. One question was about a time when a bug reached production. There were also many questions about data ingestion and feature creation. This was a machine learning role, and most of the interviewers were in the Pacific time zone.
The next round was a live CoderPad. The first question asked me to return a specific type based on a class defined earlier and to read a JSON file and return its data as that class type. The follow-up asked how best to sum all the account balance data from the object and return it. After that, the interviewer asked how to use the data and turn it into something that could be ingested for feature creation.
AI was allowed, but the interviewer was not clear about whether I should use it. I also thought the company might not be around for long, because I viewed it as essentially a payday-loan or loan-shark company pretending to be a neobank. It was fully remote unless you lived in Los Angeles, and the pay was extremely low. I would use the process as practice.
