The early stages of my Dropbox process were the most frustrating. I had an OA and then a phone screen where the HR contact didn’t really dig into my background or ask many questions about me. Most of the call was about next steps, and then the process went quiet.
What threw me off was how poorly the later communication matched what I was being told. I was repeatedly led to believe things were going well. The feedback sounded positive, I was told I’d hear back early, and it even sounded like an offer might be coming. After a long wait and more silence than I expected, I learned that the team was still weighing its options and that concerns had come up with the hiring committee.
By the time I was rejected, it felt less like an honest evaluation and more like gaslighting and misleading updates. I felt worn down by promises that didn’t hold, and the outcome felt harsher than it needed to be.
