I started with Dropbox’s automated assessment. The CodeSignal-style test was proctored and had multiple levels that became stricter as I progressed. I could use Google in a very limited way, mainly for documentation about specific functions I was trying to use, but I still had to solve the core tasks under increasingly tight constraints.
After that, I had a recruiter phone screen and moved into two technical rounds. The technical interviews focused on medium-level LeetCode-style questions. They weren’t impossible, but they required solid software engineering fundamentals and real DSA knowledge. The interviewers were fair, and the questions tested best-practice thinking rather than trick solving.
I didn’t receive an offer. The structure was clear: the assessment was the main gate, followed by technical rounds with standard software engineering expectations. I came away feeling that my performance needed to be stronger earlier in the process, rather than feeling that anything had been wildly unfair.
