eBay Software Engineer Interview Experience — Five Onsite Rounds and a CS102 Refresher

The onsite actually required 5 rounds... my vision went black for a second when I heard that, but since they'd already given me the opportunity, I figured I'd just go ahead and interview.

The five rounds included:

ML implementation: chatted about my background with the hiring manager, then did a case on how to handle cache update conflicts on the server.

Design: yes, you read that right, another design round. This one wasn't too hard — design a service for buying and selling things online.

BQ: pure BQ, a full hour of just BQ... mostly talking about services I'd worked on before. It felt pretty awkward chatting for a whole hour... by that point my head was already a bit foggy.

"Coding": not a proper Leetcode/algorithm round, just some basics. The interviewer said you could look up the algorithm on the spot, while also testing how to pass a function into a function — I was thinking, isn't that even easier to just look up than the algorithm itself? Also tested some basic data structures, basically felt like getting a CS102 lesson...

Big Data: pure SQL questions... this round was okay I guess... tested some window functions.

Well, the title for this position is SDE, so I probably won't pass anyway, just gonna see how it goes...
