An Onsite With No LeetCode

This was the most unusual interview I have had so far. There was not a single LeetCode question in the onsite. First round I wrote a shopping cart. There was not much algorithm work, and it felt as though the round was testing how I communicated with the interviewer. Second round I was asked basic questions about data structures and complexity, including very basic topics such as lists, hashes, a…

Three Onsite Rounds With Two System Designs

Round 1 Given an array heights, where each element represents the height of a vertical line. Choose two lines to act as the walls of a container. Return the maximum amount of water the container can hold (max area). Given an array of integers temps representing daily temperatures, write a function to calculate, for each day, how many days you'd have to wait until a warmer temperature. The functio…

AI-Coding Phone Screen, Rejected After Onsite Coding Round

In June, an HR person reached out about an MTS role, and we talked through some behavioral questions and my project experience. Phone screen: AI coding — basically they give you some code and have you spot design pattern issues (like something not being extensible), or point out a bad data type. On CodeSignal, the AI is really strong and basically does the work for you. You just need to talk thro…

Rejected After a Forced-JS Coding Screen

The recruiter only mentioned that the interview would cover algorithms and data structures, with no mention of a language requirement at all. Then right at the start of the interview, the interviewer told me I could only use JavaScript or TypeScript. I said I was more comfortable in Python, but I was still made to use JS/TS. This was the first time I've ever been forced into a specific language l…

Five Onsite Rounds and a CS102 Refresher

The onsite actually required 5 rounds... my vision went black for a second when I heard that, but since they'd already given me the opportunity, I figured I'd just go ahead and interview. The five rounds included: ML implementation: chatted about my background with the hiring manager, then did a case on how to handle cache update conflicts on the server. Design: yes, you read that right, another…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
