Garmin Intern Software Engineer Interview Experience — In-Person Technical Test With Eight Mixed Problems

Garmin·Software Engineer·Apr 2026
OnsiteInternmedium

First round was a technical test that was held at the company. There were simple questions about OOP and DSA, logic and SQL. There were 8 problems. 2 of them asked me to describe the OOP principles and to identify which ones are relevant for a described situation.

Then there were 2 coding problems about a square matrix (n x n). It was a circular matrix that started the indexing from the middle of the matrix, going clockwise. The matrix had an uneven number of rows and columns. One of the problems was to find the number sitting on the secondary diagonal, k rows from the middle of the matrix.

Then there were 2 SQL queries that you needed to write. (You were given the tables and only needed to extract the information from them using joins and so on.)

Then there was 1 UML problem in which you needed to write the UML classes from some text that was explaining the situation.

And lastly, you needed to solve a maze logic problem.
