The interview was designed to be social, but I left feeling unable to show what I could do. The group format began with an icebreaker and quick introductions to the interviewers. By the time it was my turn, my background had been reduced to a couple of lines. I worried that the hiring managers did not have enough detail to understand my strengths for an account executive type role.
The larger setting had organization problems too, which made it harder to focus. The manager arrived late and I was left waiting outside without clear communication, unsure what was happening for the first part of the day. Once the session began, I spoke up, showed enthusiasm, and tried to stand out, but it still felt as if effort did not lead to a fair evaluation.
I was rejected without any explanation or feedback, which made the process feel frustratingly opaque. What stayed with me was not only the decision but a format that seemed to value quick presence over substance. I was not confident they ever saw my full potential.
