After a recruiter call, I completed a video technical interview in their coding interface. I had to simulate push notifications to teammates by implementing functions, running the code, and checking the output with dummy input. The next coding round also involved notifications, this time preventing duplicate notifications from reaching subscribers.
I got a working straightforward solution, but a long introduction left little time to pursue the optimal direction. I believed the O(n) implementation met the core requirements, even when complexity became the focus later. At times, it felt as if the interviewer steered me away from questions or preferred a particular framing. I did not advance past the coding stages. The process was structured and not hostile, but the result felt harsh given that the working behavior ran.
