National Oilwell Varco Software Engineer interview: calm whiteboard screen

A recruiter conversation set expectations and made the process feel systematic. I received detailed information in advance and the interviews did not feel pressurized. The overall timeline seemed likely to run about one or two months.

An early Zoom screen covered basics and me as a person: school or curriculum background, research interests, extracurriculars, and personality-style questions. A later, longer discussion went deeper into my experience. I solved roughly ten FE-style questions on a whiteboard without outside information.

The atmosphere stayed friendly and calm, but the whiteboard portion was direct. There was little room to talk around an answer, so I had to think clearly under the time limit. I did not get an offer, though the process felt straightforward and smoothly run.

Location: Stavanger. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
