My first step was a recruiter screening call that became one of the most discouraging conversations I'd had. The interviewer's delivery felt oddly automated, as if my answers weren't being heard. I'd finish a response, and they would immediately move to the next question without any reaction or follow-up. The whole thing felt pointless.
The same problem showed up differently as I moved into what was described as an informal-first structure before the formal interviews, followed by a panel and a challenge presentation. After the informal round, the manager's approach felt more focused on "vibe fit" than substance. When I tried to close the interview by asking whether I was moving ahead, I didn't receive any meaningful feedback. Later, I was told they don't provide feedback across the board.
That lack of responsiveness, along with the difficulty getting closure, made the process feel disrespectful of my time. I didn't move forward, and the biggest surprise was how little I was able to learn about where I stood.
