Optum Software Engineer interview: walk-in technical rounds and reversed selection message

I attended a walk-in drive with two technical interviews, each roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. Both sessions went well, and the content felt solid.

The frustrating part was the communication afterward. An HR representative told me I had been selected and that the hiring HR would contact me with next steps. Soon after I started going home, the same person called back to say my profile had been put on hold. I followed up over the next 3 to 4 days, and the hiring HR eventually told me I had not been selected.

I was disappointed less by the technical outcome than by the message changing in the middle of the process. It did not feel transparent or professional enough for a company with that reputation.

Location: Pune. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
