Rockstar Games Software Engineer interview: coding track and logistics

The process opened with a recruiter screen and moved directly into a technical track. In one version, the initial coding test covered basic Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and some problem solving. After that, I had a focused, practical screening or technical discussion with senior people.

Later stages included a live CoderPad-style assessment with problems described as similar to LeetCode, followed by a technical interview and behavioral assessment. At different points I was told there would be another final round, but I never reached it before being rejected.

The logistics stood out. One interviewer spent a surprising amount of time on the in-person requirement even though I was local and had already agreed, then discussed facilities and benefits. Another set of steps felt like a stack of interviews, including HR questions about visa sponsorship where the budget or willingness to sponsor seemed uncertain. I did not get an offer. It moved quickly on logistics, but did not always feel closely aligned with the job I thought I was discussing.

Location: United Arab Emirates. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
