Samsara Solutions Engineer interview: deal metrics and a take-home presentation

The process was more demanding than I expected. It went through several rounds, starting with HR and then moving into sales leadership. The overall acceptance rate felt low. They placed a lot of emphasis on showing a growth mindset, and the questions pushed me to be very specific about deal metrics.

I had to prepare to go beyond surface-level answers. The interviews mixed behavioral prompts with questions about my background, and the interviewers followed up in a way that made the conversations feel like an evaluation of how I thought rather than a chance to finish a rehearsed response. They also expected a structured approach to behavioral storytelling.

The hardest part was a take-home style project. It required written work followed by a presentation to managers and directors, with role-play elements included in the evaluation. I communicated clearly throughout the process, but I didn't get an offer. By the end, I felt the bar was higher than being a good storyteller. I had to show that I could operate at the expected level consistently.

Location: London, England. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
